In person, the body has a \u003cstrong data-start=\"709\" data-end=\"745\"\u003ebeautiful lemongrass-green color\u003c\/strong\u003e, with subtle variations of tone running through the fine, flowing grain. It's difficult to capture that color accurately in a photograph, but in your hands, the unusual green character of the wood is immediately apparent.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"1260\"\u003e\u003cstrong data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"1025\"\u003eThis flute is one of my favorites that I've made.\u003c\/strong\u003e There's something about the combination of the wood, the way it feels in the hands, and the way it speaks that has always drawn me back to it. I kept the design relatively clean because I wanted the unusual Poplar to remain the focus.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1619\"\u003eI've paired the Poplar with \u003cstrong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1340\"\u003eBlack Locust for the mouthpiece and footcap\u003c\/strong\u003e, and \u003cstrong data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1393\"\u003eBlack Locust and Black Walnut for the block\u003c\/strong\u003e. The reddish tones of the Black Locust create a beautiful contrast against the green of the Poplar, while the darker Black Walnut gives the block a little more visual weight. A small \u003cstrong data-start=\"1577\" data-end=\"1597\"\u003eTurquoise accent\u003c\/strong\u003e completes the design.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1624\" data-end=\"1680\"\u003eAnd there's another surprise hidden in the Black Locust.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1937\"\u003e\u003cstrong data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1762\"\u003eUnder ultraviolet light, the Black Locust fluoresces a vivid yellow-green\u003c\/strong\u003e, revealing something that isn't visible under ordinary light. There's something very inviting about the way it speaks. It doesn't demand a particular kind of playing.
