A large, rich-voiced flute with a deep, soothing character.

This flute is made from Poplar, with Padauk for the mouthpiece and footcap and a Padauk and Canarywood block accented with Turquoise. This particular piece of Poplar is mostly light, almost white, with faint green tones running through the wood, especially around the natural knot near the Turquoise inlay. I filled the knot with Turquoise, turning an imperfection in the wood into part of the flute's design.

The Poplar has a rich, full, and stable sound with a particularly soothing quality. There is something very calming about the way this flute speaks, with a full voice that invites you to slow down and listen.

This is a large flute, built for someone with larger hands. I've used offset finger holes to make the finger placement more ergonomic and comfortable, but it is still a flute that will fit best in larger hands.

Tuned to B at 432 Hz, this flute has a deep, grounding presence that makes it especially enjoyable for slow playing, meditation, and simply spending some quiet time with the instrument.

Key: B
Tuning: 432 Hz
Body: Poplar
Mouthpiece & Footcap: Padauk
Block: Padauk & Canarywood
Inlay: Turquoise
Finger Holes: Offset for improved ergonomics

A note about the tuning: I design these flutes so the block can be slid slightly back from the fipple, raising the pitch so the flute can be played at 440 Hz as well. Although this flute is built and voiced around 432 Hz, you have the flexibility to play at either tuning depending on what you're playing with.
