North American Indigenous Flute — F#, 432 Hz
A bright, warm, playful flute with an especially sweet voice.
This is a North American Indigenous (NAI) flute made from Western Red Cedar, with a simple Cedar block and no separate mouthpiece or footcap. The clean, understated design lets the beautiful grain and warm color of the Cedar speak for itself.
The NAI flute has a noticeably sweeter voice than my Native American-style flutes. This one is particularly bright, warm, and playful, with a gentle quality to its voice that makes it a joy to play. It really does live up to the name Love Flute.
Tuned to F# at 432 Hz, this is an expressive instrument that invites exploration. There's something about the combination of its sweet voice and playful character that makes it difficult to play this flute without smiling.
The finger spacing is moderate. It isn't a flute I'd recommend for someone with very small hands, but it should be comfortable for most players with average-sized hands.
I made this flute about two and a half years ago while I was living at Bear Creek, just north of Carson, Washington. It comes from an important period in my life and my development as a flute maker, and I like knowing that a little piece of that time and place is carried forward in the instrument.
